New Year 2023 Message: Time for Greater Intimacy with God

I had 3 visions which I cover near the end of the video. There are 3 choices.
The first vision was of rebellious people swallowed up in the belly of the whale like Jonah who tried to put a big distance between him and God. They are in the whale of the world system. They are refusing God’s call and are slowly being consumed; slowly dying. Pray they repent before it’s too late.
Others are adrift on the ocean of life, just keeping afloat, bobbing up and down in rough seas hoping someone will save them.
Others are safe on the ship of life, heading in the direction God intended for them. They need to stay there, keep intimate with God and throw a lifejacket to those in the sea to help save them.

For October, William Cooper Gentle Warrior, a biography and history, is on sale and you can get 10 or more copies for the amazing price of $5 each – much less than what it costs to produce them. I have some special projects coming up that will make books on William Cooper in high demand so get in while you can. They will make great gifts and are good teaching tools. William Cooper started the first national Aboriginal organisation back in the 1930’s and was the father of NAIDOC (National Aborigines and Islanders Week.) He led his people on one of the few private protests worldwide against Kristallnacht, the start of the Holocaust. His legacy lives on and this book is highly acclaimed.
We have had this pulpit with a map of Australia on top of a tree stump for a long time. It was given to us by Ps Royree Jensen of Brisbane and Ps Dutch Sheets was the last person to preach on it before we received it. Norman painted it and put Uluru in the centre with a dove and 2 Chron 7:14 on it. We usually have a heart-shaped stone from the Galilee in the middle of it to symbolize Australia having a heart of flesh not a stony heart towards God. Since our congregation has been called the Tabernacle of David for many years, Norman felt led by the Lord to repaint it and put Amos 9:11 there about the rebuilding of the Tabernacle of David.

HEALING THE COMMONWEALTH
At the Healing the Commonwealth prayer event on 27.6.22, prayer leaders from Britain and the Commonwealth nations joined together in a time of fresh repentance and forgiveness. Norman was asked, along with other nations, to share testimonies of past reconciliation events between Britain and Australia that we have been involved with since 1997. All continents were represented in the 27.6.22 event. Brian Pickering of the Australian Prayer Network lead the 1999 Reconciliation Tour of England by the Australian team and spoke before Norman and introduces him here. Norman and Barbara were part of that team. It was a very touching time.

Our team led a powerful time at our recent ‘Healing the Commonwealth’ prayer event as we repented for the pain caused to Commonwealth nations and territories when Britain created the British Empire and later the Commonwealth.
We want to take proactive steps to heal the divide between territories and nations. That’s where you come in – you’ve got the power! Jesus called us to carry the gospel of peace wherever we go. And we believe in the power of prayer. This is your opportunity to pray for restoration and for salvation for Commonwealth nations. Have you got your ticket for our ‘Blessing the Commonwealth’ event?

PRESS RELEASE RE NAIDOC By Munganbana Norman Miller 4.7.22
Munganbana will be marching again in the NAIDOC Cairns march this week. Munganbana Norman Miller said, “I will be carrying a giant boomerang I made with Voice Treaty Truth on it as I support the Uluru Statement from the Heart.”
He said, “I will also be wearing a T-shirt saying “Israel, Since 1948” commemorating the reforming of the modern state of Israel and a Holocaust pin. This is because Aboriginal Christian leader, William Cooper is the father of NAIDOC, initiating it on 28 January 1940 as an annual Aboriginal Sunday supported by the churches.
“In 1955, the date changed to the first Sunday in July and became known as National Aborigines Day. In 1957, the National Aborigines Day Observance Committee (NADOC) was formed whose goal was to promote awareness of Aboriginal people, their cultures and their plight. In 1989, the title changed to NAIDOC Week to include Torres Strait Islanders in the national celebrations. So, we owe it to William Cooper who got the ball rolling.”
When asked where the Israel connection is, Munganbana said that William Cooper led the Australian Aborigines’ League on a protest to the German Consulate in Melbourne in 1938 against the treatment of Jewish people at Kristallnacht, the start of the Holocaust.
Munganbana said, “This was remarkable because Aboriginals were not citizens of their own nation at the time and would not be till the 60s. Also, it was of the few private protests worldwide with a slow response from governments. My wife Barbara and I were privileged to be at Yad Vashem World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Israel for the honouring of William Cooper in December 2010.
“My wife has since written 3 books on him which are available at my Munganbana Reef and Rainforest Aboriginal Art Gallery in 33 Lake Street. The cover for the first book, William Coper Gentle Warrior, has a photo of William Cooper superimposed over my canvas painting, The Gathering. I am an Aboriginal artist and have had my own art gallery for over 25 years.
“I support the constitutional recognition of the Voice and will be at the Cairns Esplanade near the lagoon at 12.30 pm on Tuesday 5 July with my giant boomerang and singing a song I wrote called Reconciliation.
“At the march on Friday and at the Esplanade on Tuesday, people will be able to sign the back of the boomerang.
“I’m also writing a book called Boomerang Man because I have made a number of giant boomerangs over the years on my grassroots campaign for constitutional recognition of First Nations People which I started in 2014 and one of them is in the Museum of National Democracy in Canberra.”

The Restoring Hope Ministry team have been in Cape York in June installing reception for GOD TV in a number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. They have been to Cairns, Yarrabah, Mareeba, Cooktown, Hopevale, Wujul Wujul, Bamaga, Weipa and Napranum. Some of the team will return to install God TV on islands of the Torres Straits.
This is a photo of the team which have been received with open arms – Brian Sonnerman and Greg Gannon from Geraldton, Rod Baker from NSW, David Jack and Tony and Delia Kish from Melbourne, and Donna Meehan and Lorraine Kelly from Newscastle. 55 installations have been made and it has brought great joy and comfort to the communities concerned with the systems being installed in churches and at some homes where people like to meet. Great to see the good news being spread and eagerly received and blessings to the team who went.

Hi all. We bless you in the name of the Lord. Despite losing our Christian Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, at the recent national elections, we praise the Lord that He is in control and His ways are higher than our ways. After all, history is His story. We hope it’s not a story of God giving us what we want despite His will which is what happened when God gave Israel King Saul at their request. 1 Sam 12:13.
There has been a recent change of government in Australia with the Australian Labor Party taking control of the House of Representatives with preference votes from the Greens. They will depend on the Green vote to pass their bills through the Senate. Both parties have antisemitic policies so we need a lot of prayer for Australia to continue to be a sheep nation. UKRAINE BECAME A CHRISTIAN NATION IN 988

RECONCILIATION WEEK – 27 MAY – 3 JUNE
Photo on the left – The Catholic Cathedral Cairns where Norman was the artist in 2017 for the Sea of Hands display for Reconciliation Week. He also taught the students at one of the Catholic schools a song he had written on reconciliation and they sang it together at a Reconciliation Mass at the Cathedral.
This year, St Josephs School in Cairns used the Reconciliation song Norman wrote to play when the students entered the school hall for the Reconciliation Mass. Norman was able to do an interview with our local newspaper The Cairns Post for Reconciliation Week 2022 and the removal of the Captain Cook statue to another resting place as it made way for redevelopment for James Cook University.

55TH ANNIVERSARY OF REUNIFICATION OF JERUSALEM
May 29 is the anniversary of the Six Day War when the Arab states invaded Israel and Israel defeated them in 6 days in a miracle. Jerusalem was reunited and Israel gained back Judea and Samaria and the Golan Heights. It is celebrated as Jerusalem Day and a march is held each year called a flag march. Hamas has called for violent demonstrations against the Jewish state and the march using the false accusation that Israel is going to tear down Al-Aqsa mosque. Hi all. We bless you in the name of the Lord. We are in the midst of a national election campaign in Australia and continue to pray for Godly government. We have been blessed with a Christian Prime Minister who said he won by a miracle last election and he needs another miracle. He has been the brunt of a character assassination campaign despite being of good character. Australia has handled the pandemic and the economic fallout because of it better than most nations. However big money is bankrolling so-called independents against government seats campaigning for stronger climate change policies. They hope to get a hung parliament so they can call the shots, having the balance of power.
We have had devastating floods on the east coast of Australia and the heart-rending war in Ukraine continues with rising antisemitism in many countries. Just as the heroes of the Bible interceded to God, we do today in this generation. We praise the Lord that He is in control. After all, history is His story.

Russian Invasion of Ukraine – Urgent Prayer Needed!!!

A number of commentators are comparing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine with Hitler’s invasion of European countries in World War 11 and wondering how far Putin will go to re-establish the USSR. People are also asking is the west having its Neville Chamberlain moment of appeasement?

Poland was not part of USSR, as was Ukraine till 1991, but Poland will have bad memories of how it was treated by the Russians during and after World War 11. Surprisingly, perhaps, my book If I Survive covers some of that story. The reason for this is that I needed to piece together the information from Lena Goldstein, whose story it is, by doing a lot of background research to put it in context. So I will include some extracts here:

The Nazis fought their way into Warsaw. Dead bodies were everywhere. They closed the schools, shut down the newspapers and concerts. The people loved music, but the city fell silent.
The Siege of Warsaw by the Germans began on 1 September 1939, one week after the signing of the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact, while the Soviet invasion of Poland commenced on 17 September. The Polish Warsaw Army (Armia Warszawa) defended Warsaw, the capital of Poland, as substantial aerial bombardments by the Luftwaffe rained down.

To offer what support she could (to her brothers who were sent to the east to fight), Lena went undercover as an actress with a troop of actors who happened to be going to Brest. She says:
“We were already on the Russian side, and people were coming back from the Russian side, saying, ‘Go back, go back because they’re killing people,’ especially Jews because they know the Jews are escaping from the Germans. They’re killing Jews because they know that everybody is selling all that they possess to run away from the Germans to the Russian side. It was dangerous.”

Lena’s sister Fela and her husband did not want to accept Russian citizenship. They were Polish citizens, and they wanted to go back to Poland. Angered, the Russians sent them to Siberia instead, as punishment. Russia had already been sent many dissidents to this remote place. Lena longed to find her sister, hold her in her arms, share sisterly stories, even to know she was alive and not suffering. But there was no word from her. It was as if a chapter of her life had closed.

(Because of the Warsaw Uprising Aug-Oct 1944 led by the Polish home army or resistance timed for the retreat of the Germans and advance of the Soviets) The Germans reduced Warsaw to smoking ruins, the skeletons of burnt blocks of apartments surrounded by rubble and destroyed bridges sunk into the river. It was like a ghost town.
The Soviets paid the highest price to defeat the Nazis in Europe, losing more than 26 million troops, so the Allies didn’t want to upset them, and this accounted for their low-level support for their ally Poland. This lack of support was despite the fact that Polish pilots helped win the Battle of Britain in 1940, 115,000 Poles fought in Italy under British command, and after D-Day Poles fought on the western front. They also fought for Britain in the Middle East.
Tehran Conference
The Tehran Conference sealed the fate of Poland. It was a meeting between US President Franklin D. Roosevelt, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, and Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin in Tehran, Iran, between 28 November and 1 December 1943. It is reported that: Stalin pressed for a revision of Poland’s eastern border with the Soviet Union to match the line set by British Foreign Secretary Lord Curzon in 1920. To compensate Poland for the resulting loss of territory, the three leaders agreed to move the German–Polish border to the Oder and Neisse rivers. This decision was not formally ratified, however, until the Potsdam Conference of 1945. (Office of the Historian n.d.) It seems the president of the Polish government-in-exile, Władysław Raczkiewicz, was not aware of this. Also, the Americans were keen to get Soviet support for the war against Japan. At the Yalta conference between the Americans, British and Soviets from 4 to 11 February 1945, the Allies withdrew support for the Polish government-in-exile and Poland was allowed to become a Soviet satellite. Other decisions were made that enabled a Soviet sphere of influence in Europe that led to the Cold War. Stalin said: For the Russian people, the question of Poland is not only a question of honor but also a question of security. Throughout history, Poland has been the corridor through which the enemy has passed into Russia. Poland is a question of life and death for Russia. (The Latin Library n.d.) After the war, Poland became a communist state and remained so until 1989. One occupying force was replaced by another. The Soviets persecuted the soldiers of the Home Army and the resistance fighters of the Warsaw Uprising as being anti-Soviet. Instead of being honoured as brave fighters, they were maligned. A monument to the Home Army was not built until 1989 when the Soviets lost control of Poland. Instead, the Soviet-backed People’s Army was glorified. the People’s Commissariat for Internal Affairs (NKVD), Stalin’s secret police, or the Office of Security (UB), the Polish political police, captured many Home Army fighters, eradicating opposition to post-war communist Poland. The UB operated from 1945 to 1954. They imprisoned the soldiers on charges such as fascism and sent many to Gulags. However, memories of the uprising and lack of Soviet support for them motivated the Polish labour movement, Solidarity, which led to peaceful opposition against the Polish communist government in the 1980s. In Poland now, 1 August is a celebrated anniversary. On the fiftieth anniversary of the (Warsaw) uprising, in 1994, Poland held a ceremony and invited the German and Russian presidents. Russian President Boris Yeltsin didn’t attend but German President Roman Herzog visited and was the first German statesman to apologise for German atrocities against Poland during the uprising. “

Norman – 5 years busking Christian songs on the CaIrns Esplanade, changing the atmosphere over the city and touching lives. He does this about 3 nights a week. Some people dance with joy. Others are in tears as their faith is stirred or they reconsider having walked away from the Lord. Children are loving it. Homeless people often pour out their alcohol or give up their tobacco. We praise the Lord for a heart of worship and a heart for the lost and to touch this city.
