Prophecies

Background

When we planted our church at the Cairns Band Hall in Charles Street Cairns in October 1996, we called ourselves the Pentecostal Church of Reconciliation. We changed this to the Centre for International Reconciliation and Peace in 1998 with it becoming our para-church ministry as we named our local church Tabernacle of David when we moved into the Clare St Cairns church in 2001. It was the first church built in Cairns and was an apostolic church, very historic.

We have been calling ourselves a House of Prayer for All Nations since attending Reconciliation 97 conference in England in mid-1997 when the Lord put this on our heart. Then we added “and Israel.” We have been calling ourselves a church without walls since December 97 after Ps Carl Musch preached a message on this in our church. Then after African intercessor Edward Sello’s visit to us in Cairns in April-May 1998, we started to call ourselves a prophetic end time church. These names are central to how we see ourselves as a ministry – A prophetic end time church without walls and a house of prayer for all nations and Israel.

Norman and Barbara were ordained as pastors by Dr Garnet Budge of Australian Fellowship of Faith Churches and Ministers International in 1996. Norman was ordained as an apostle and Barbara as a prophet by Apostle Leon Walters of Christian International on September 11, 2001 after they hosted a conference for Christian International apostles and prophets in Cairns called Positioned for Dominion. After they were ordained and took the speakers from the USA to eat, late at night, they saw the horrifying images of the Twin Towers falling as it was 9/11. The speakers from the USA were not able to go home for a few days because airports in the US were closed. The Lord gave Norman a word that His answer to 9/11 was Amos 9:11, the restoration of the Tabernacle of David.

Previous to planting the church, Norman and Barbara did Bible College at Cairns Christian Centre and were on the ministry team there for a number of years under Pastor Norm and Kendrie Smallcombe. Norman was youth leader and Barbara counselled there voluntarily as a Christian psychologist two days a week. They spent a year in Brisbane in 1995 at Garden City AOG and helped with Indigenous ministries.
