Our local church is called the Tabernacle of David and meets Saturdays as it has done for many years. Services are at 4pm Sats at 33 Lake St Cairns CBD. This Saturday we have a special Fathers Day service. Our para church ministry is the Centre for International Reconciliation and Peace. We have run these ministries since 1996.

As we cater for Christians and seekers, we have now separated out Indigenous Friends of Israel International which has been run under our ministry since 2017. It is now a separate entitiy with separate ABN, bank account, social media, newsletter etc. So we urge you if interested to subscribe to the IFI International newsletter SUBSCRIBE though you will find a little information still in this newsletter. We already sent one out  this week but we won’t automatically add you to it without your permission. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the subscribe form.

Worshipping Pastor Norman Miller at Cairns Festival Parade 24.8.24

The floats were lined up ready to leave and parade down the Cairns Esplanade. Ps Norman’s float was Munganbana StyleUp Fashions as he is also an Aboriginal artist with his own art gallery. As we travelled along the parade route, he sang songs like Rivers of Babylon and Stand By Me. Our family and friends were on the float wearing his signature Aboriginal designed tshirts.

Norman urged children, boys and girls to stand by their mothers and fathers, mothers and fathers to stand by their children, husbands and wives to stand by each other, children to stand by their grandmothers and grandfathers etc with a microphone. This was a purposeful challenge to gender fluidity ideology. We had children on the float who high fived the children as we slowly passed by on a large decorated truck. Thousands had gathered and it was a joyful event for many who had had a difficult year.

We had our church service that morning before the parade preparations and Monica had a prophetic word after the extended worship. We regularly have prophetic words but don’t have someone to transcribe them anymore. But this was relevant to the parade so we will share it. She said the Lord showed her that His sound would come out of Ps Norman’s mouth and it would go into the ground and touch those standing on the ground with His Spirit. She then saw shoots of new life rising up from the ground. Barbara and Colleen were reminded of the scripture about the mustard seed growing into a tall tree.

Matthew 13:31-21 “He told them another parable: the kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”

The children enjoyed Norman telling them that he found Nemo (the large clownfish pictured) in Lake St (that’s where his art gallery is) and he brought Nemo to the Esplanade. You may have seen the popular children’s movie “Finding Nemo.” If you want to look at Norman’s gallery CLICK HERE or tshirts, furnishings, coffee mugs etc CLICK HERE.

Please get involved! We need your help!

We would love to connect with you and help you support Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East, working against calls for its destruction and the genocide of its people. These calls are advancing at great pace since October 7. Indigenous Friends of Israel formed in July 2017 because of concerns over Australia’s policy towards Israel. Since then we have gone international as antisemitism is international and isan ancient hatred. The forces standing against Israel also oppose Western and/or Judeo-Christian values which have helped us achieve a society with social cohesion and the rule of law.

Please help us take a stand against antisemitism, and for a community where all are valued and safe.  There are many opportunities to use your passion, gifting and skills as a volunteer whether you are a person of faith or not.  United we stand and divided we fall. Please complete the form to volunteer.

Are you good at creating or sharing social media, fundraising, administration, film and video making, government advocacy, newsletters, speaking, representing a geographical area, organising zoom meetings or do you have other giftings or talents that you can use to bless the Lord, the Jewish people, and Israel. It doesn’t matter where you live in the world, you can get involved. Check it out here.
